Asagiri Plateau and soft serve ice cream

Asagiri Plateau is so named because fog is likely to form in the mornings. The land was developed for agricultural production, but the environment was not suitable for crop production, so it was converted to dairy farming. The cool climate is ideal for raising dairy cows, which do not tolerate the summer heat, and the vast volcanic ash soil is also favorable for growing pasture grass. It has now developed into one of the largest dairy farming areas in the country, and the idyllic scene of free-roaming dairy cows grazing leisurely with Mt. Fuji in the background has become the symbol of Asagiri Plateau. It is also a popular area where you can enjoy a variety of activities such as paragliding, camping, and golf, with a close-up view of the majestic Mt. Fuji.

The milk produced by Fujinokuni Dairy Co., Ltd., which was established by dairy farmers in Fujinomiya, is characterized by its high quality. The raw milk used is only from dairy farmers who rank highly in the Raw Milk Quality Improvement Association. By processing the milk at a medium temperature of 80℃ for 3 minutes, they produce delicious milk that is close to raw milk. The soft serve ice cream made with this milk is also popular for its rich taste that retains the flavor of the milk.

In order to maintain the quality of the raw milk, we prioritize cow-first management that does not cause stress to the cows. This includes "pasture dairy farming," where the cows are allowed to graze in the fields every day except in the middle of winter and on rainy days, and "all-cow home-raising," where the cows are raised on the farm from birth to death. We adjust the milk production process to match the seasonal changes, and produce the milk with the hope that the cows will be healthy in both body and mind.
