Gotemba
Mount Fuji and the Gotenbakoshi Hikari

The sublime appearance of Mount Fuji, a World Heritage Site and symbol of Japan, has fostered faith in nature and artistic culture, and has even influenced Western art through ukiyo-e prints by artists such as Katsushika Hokusai. Gotemba City, located at the foot of the mountain, has received many blessings from Mount Fuji, including beautiful scenery, and is closely linked to its daily life and culture. The underground water of Mount Fuji, which has been gushing out over the years, produces rice, wasabi, vegetables such as mizukakena, as well as a variety of alcoholic beverages such as beer, sake, shochu, wine, whiskey, and doburoku. In recent years, sauna spots overlooking Mount Fuji and where you can "get in tune" with the water in a cold bath made from underground water have been attracting attention.

"Gotenba Koshi Hikari" is characterized by its plump grains, moderate stickiness, and good texture. It has a reputation for being delicious even when cooled, with a rich aroma and sweetness that spreads when you bite into it. Recently, its popularity has increased and it has become known throughout the country.

Gotemba is located at a high altitude, and the temperature difference between day and night contributes to the sweetness of the rice. In early spring, the temperature can drop to low levels, so care must be taken with water management. Gotemba rice has gained recognition nationwide, but we want even more people to know how delicious it is.
