Yoshida Town
Underground water of the Oi River and eels

Yoshida Town is a town with a population of about 3 people located in the Oi River basin. It is a place where the Takeda and Tokugawa armies fought during the Sengoku period, and the remains of Oyama Castle give a glimpse of that time. From the Oyama Castle observation deck you can get a panoramic view of the town, and in spring you can enjoy the illuminated cherry blossoms. At Nomanji Temple at the foot of the mountain you can see the "Nomanji Cycads," which are associated with a legend related to Ieyasu. Yoshida Town hosts a variety of events, including the Kite Flying Festival, Port Festival, and Oyama Castle Festival, and its specialty eel also attracts many visitors. It is a town with rich nature and history, as well as lively events.

Yoshida eels are tender and rich in fat. In the Taisho era, the Kawajiri region was hit by floods from the Oi River, and the cold water of the river gushed into the rice fields, preventing rice from growing. However, farmers used this cold water to farm eels, which has developed into the specialty product it is today. Yoshida eels are a delicacy born from the bounty of the Oi River and the wisdom of the people of Yoshida Town.

Our restaurant uses 100% eel from Shizuoka Prefecture. Yoshida eel, which has been decontaminated with underground water from the Oi River, is characterized by its firm flesh and no odor. The eel is grilled in a secret sauce that has been added to over 25 years, giving it an exceptional flavor. "Kimowasa," eel liver mixed with wasabi, is also popular. Please enjoy the exquisite taste created by eel professionals.
