1. Announcement of the "Washoku Exhibition Shizuoka"

The "Washoku Exhibition" will be held in Shizuoka, where visitors can learn more about the charms of "washoku," a food culture that Japan is proud of around the world. This special exhibition will tour the country and open at the National Museum of Nature and Science in October 2023, with Shizuoka being the eighth location for the exhibition.
This exhibition conveys the profound depth of Japanese cuisine, which has been registered as an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO, and introduces Japanese cuisine, which is gaining worldwide attention, from multiple perspectives, including science and history, along with a wealth of specimens and materials. It explores the charms of Japanese cuisine, which is familiar to us yet surprisingly unknown, from the diverse ingredients and cooking techniques nurtured by the natural environment of the Japanese archipelago, to the historical evolution of Japanese cuisine, and prospects for the future.
