Shizuoka Japanese Cuisine Exhibition | Celebrating 10 years since its registration as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, a national touring exhibition is coming to Shizuoka!

The national touring exhibition "Special Exhibition: Japanese Cuisine - Japanese Nature and People's Wisdom" will be held at the Shimizu Marine Building Verkehr Museum in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City from Saturday, October 2025, 10 to Sunday, December 11, 12.

This exhibition introduces the appeal of "washoku," a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, from multiple perspectives of science, history, and culture. It explores the diverse ingredients nurtured by the natural environment of the Japanese archipelago, the techniques developed through the wisdom and ingenuity of the people, and the potential of washoku for the future.

It's packed with charms that are unique to Shizuoka!
The Shizuoka event will also feature original projects showcasing local food culture, allowing visitors to experience the "origins of Japanese cuisine" unique to Shizuoka, including Shizuoka tea, seafood from Suruga Bay, and fermentation culture.

In addition, related events such as lectures and workshops are planned, making it an enjoyable, hands-on learning opportunity.
