Learn about Mt. Fuji, a world cultural heritage site that is also the source of food, at the Shizuoka Prefecture Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center.

The Shizuoka Prefecture Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center was designed by architect Shigeru Ban. The wooden latticework on the outside wall of the exhibition building is made of Fuji cypress.

The day was blessed with clear skies, and the event was held while feeling the beauty of Mt. Fuji up close.
The Shizuoka Prefecture Mt. Fuji World Heritage Center has a distinctive exterior shaped like an inverted Mt. Fuji. In front of the building is a basin filled with spring water, and when the building is reflected in it, the image of Mt. Fuji (the exterior of the center) appears. This spring water is used as a heat source for the center's air conditioning, and is an architectural expression of the water circulation of Mt. Fuji.

“There are four sake breweries in Fujinomiya City that make use of the spring water that is the blessing of Mt. Fuji.Rainbow trout farming and dairy farming are also actively carried out.Abundant water is a major feature of Mt. Fuji. Water that evaporates from the ocean turns into snow and rain on the mountain tops, seeps into the mountain surface, and over many years gushes out from the mountainside, foot of the mountain, and even from the ocean floor. This water cycle flows from the alpine belt to the Suruga It supports many lives, even down to the bottom of the bay. This is what leads to Shizuoka's rich ingredients,'' Muramatsu, a staff member, told me.

A spiral slope with a total length of 193m. The facility is designed to make you feel like a mountaineer and enjoy the scenery and atmosphere of climbing Mt. Fuji.
The upside-down Fuji-shaped building is an exhibition building, and by climbing up the spiral slope while watching a time-lapse video, you can simulate climbing Mt. Fuji from the sea, a characteristic of Shizuoka Prefecture. The video shows the great nature of Mt. Fuji, including Mt. Fuji seen from the sea from Toda (Numazu City) on the Izu Peninsula, the scenery seen from near the 7th station of the Fujinomiya Ascending Route, the night view from near the 9th station, and the sea of clouds seen from the summit. It's something worth seeing that you can feel.

The terrace of the observation hall is paved with Mt. Fuji stones collected from Mt. Fuji's Osawa Alluvial Fan.
When you go up to the observation hall on the top floor (265th floor), you can admire the real Mt. Fuji, whose appearance changes every moment, like a picture through the large picture window. In addition, "Araburuyama" introduces the story of the encounter between people and the active volcano Mt. Fuji, "Sacred Mountain" introduces the universal value of Mt. Fuji based on the keyword of faith in Mt. Fuji, and art and literature. There are permanent exhibits such as ``Beautiful Mountain,'' which introduces Mt. Fuji, which is represented by Mt. We offer an experience to fully enjoy Mt. Fuji, where you can learn about the faith and art of the world cultural heritage site, Mt. Fuji, volcanoes, nature, disaster prevention, and efforts to connect it to the future, and enjoy beautiful images.

On the day of the event, a special exhibition titled ``Communicating Faith through Fuji - Mt. Fuji as seen in the Yoshihiro Hirakawa Postcard Collection'' was being held. Through the valuable postcards donated by Yoshihiro Hirakawa, one of Japan's leading postcard collectors, participants were able to learn about the postcard trends of the time and how Mt. Fuji was depicted as a source of art. I did.

"Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha" was moved to a place with a spring water pond to calm the eruption of Mt. Fuji.

Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha is the main shrine of over 1300 Sengen shrines nationwide. It is said that this shrine was first enshrined in 2050 BC, approximately 27 years ago, to quell the eruption of Mt. Fuji. After moving twice, it is recorded that it was moved to its current location in 806.

The enshrined deity is Konohanasakuyahime, who is said to be a beautiful goddess and was the model for Princess Kaguya. It is said that when he saw the beautiful Mt. Fuji, he thought that there must be a beautiful god here as well, so he became the deity to be enshrined there.

This shrine was donated by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1604. In addition, three other buildings, including the tower gate, were built with donations from Prince Ieyasu.

The main hall is a two-story building built in an unusual style known as Sengen-zukuri. Since the shape of the roof looks like Mt. Fuji, there is a theory that it is meant to represent that there is a god on Mt. Fuji (there are various theories).

On the day of the event, we received prayers and also performed offerings of tamagushi and dance.

2.4kL of water springs out every second, and the water temperature is 13 degrees throughout the year. In the past, it was also the place where people performed purification when making a pilgrimage to Mt. Fuji.
In fact, it is said that the reason it was moved to its current location was because there was Wakutama Pond, which has spring water from Mt. Fuji. This pond is said to have been created by an eruption about 1 years ago, and this location was chosen because water was needed to contain the eruption of Mt. Fuji. It is said that the rainwater and snow that falls on Mt. Fuji is filtered by Mt. Fuji, and then comes out after 30 to 40 years, making it a special natural monument of the country.
